Application
♠ Application Applications are CLOSED. ♠ Mun Name: Give us your name or online alias here Journal: The info for your mun journal here; if you don’t have one, simply specify. Contact Info: Give us your main contact info; the more ways to reach you, the better! Examples, AIM, Yahoo messenger, email, etc Other Characters: Any other characters you play in this RP. If there are none, then put n/a. ♠ Character Info Name: Full name of desired character Movie/series: Movie or series in which they appear (please see Approved Canons list for more information on what characters you can app) Year/Position: Be specific; the school runs from kindergarten all the way through college Non/Speaking Animal/Companion(if any): Examples: Abu, Carpet, Xerxes [Aladdin], Pegasus [Hercules], Pascal [Tangled]. Please note that if you’re a princess and the forest creatures come running at the sound of your voice, they do not count; it must be a specific character! Powers: A description of your character's supernatural or unusual powers, if applicable. Canon history: A brief history of the canon history of your character. You may link to an existing wiki/info page on the web. AU history: Please give us a history which fits into the context and world of this game. If you need any help with this, please contact your canonmates and/or the mods! Returning characters, please add on a few sentences to your previous AU to update it. Personality: The characterization of whom you are apping. Please use examples from canon as evidence; AU examples will not count! The core personality of your character should not be changed by the AU, thus we require canon proof of your commentary. This is an important section, so please be sure to fill this out thoroughly. A few detailed paragraphs at the least are suitable, since we expect that you've done your homework on your character. Greatest Fear: This is meant to be an in-depth study of your character's greatest fear. This cannot be generic or silly, but something very specific to your character's experiences and life. Use characterization to your benefit here. Has your character been at the Academy before/does your character remembering being at the Academy before?: Are you picking up a character? If so, are you bringing them in new or continuing from where the last mun left off? What are you plans with this character?:This is a very player-plot based game with in-depth characters. While not every event or post has to have serious and create intense CR, the relationships and bonds you gain with others do play a key factor in the direction of your character. This doesn't have to be long or even seriously in-depth, but we want to see that you put some thought in your choice of who to app. Previous players with returning characters from ![]() How has the Black Mist affected your character’s memory at all?: Basically, this is an opportunity to take your character and freshen them up for this sequel. For instance, if you want to take them from an earlier canon point or have events from the last game wiped from their memory, simply explain here. We don't want anyone to have to carry over null and void player plots. Are there any noteworthy events that happened to your character in the previous game?: Examples: Rescues/fail rescues, kidnappings, intense player plots. Basically anything that has had an immense impact on your character and may alter their behavior that you plan on continuing in this new game. ♠ Writing Third person writing sample: A sample of your writing style, in third person. This is in the format of a log post, in other words, prose. This should be handled as if your character is in the game and should be at least 300 words long. Please make sure to check this section for the right amount of words; you may use this word counter if your writing program does not have one. Use this as an opportunity to show off your character's inner thought process, actions and the reasoning behind them, behaviors, mannerisms, etc; keep it dialogue light, please. Please do not extensively write for Academy NPCs, and please don't write for others' characters; mentioning them as part of the thought process is okay, but don't write their words, thoughts, or actions (that's God Modding before you even get in the game)! Hint: Past appers have found this section easiest to write by describing the events/journey's leading up to their character’s arrival. First person writing sample: This should be handled as if you were writing an entry into ![]() STOP! Before you apply! REMEMBER: ✒ Check and double check for proper grammar, syntax, and errors such as typos; sloppy writing will hurt your app! ✒ Check your castmate(s) apps (if there are any) and/or any past apps for your character to make sure the information is consistent! ✒ Reread everything to make sure you app has been filled out correctly! ✒ If your character comes from a part of the world currently covered in Mist, please explain in your AU how/when they evacuated! Those stuck in the Mist cannot come to the Academy! Current Mist Maps can be found here. ✒ Make sure your character isn’t taken or reserved already! ✒ If apping a Kingdom Hearts, Avatar, or Marvel character, please check the FAQ for information on their special AUs! ✒ Do not plagiarize! If you absolutely must use a quote or a statement from elsewhere, use quotations and cite a source! If you do not, depending on how minor or severe the plagiarism is, we will either ask for a revision (and give you a warning for future posts, threads, and/or apps) or deny the app completely. We will be checking all applications for this. ✒ If you have any questions at all, please contact a mod immediately for clarification! |
Helga Sinclair 3/??
Other than that, Helga carries an air of importance, of authority, especially over those at a lower rank or serving under her. Her appearance is always professional, and there are few people that see her differently. Students garner a small amount of empathy from her, more than any subordinate ever did. This depends solely on the student. While she holds a zero-tolerance on any rules, she considers her students her team. Lenience from her is rare. When Helga is in charge of a team, she does her damnedest to make sure nothing happens to them. She isn't particularly social with said 'team', however. As with any team that goes on an expedition or hunt, or in this case, the fight for survival, there was the chance that she could lose someone, and she didn't want the emotional hinderance should it happen. She's always bunking away from the group, away from everyone else that she's been on multiple jobs with to avoid that potential connection. As a commanding officer, it's her duty to not lose them, not be their teammate/friend.
Helga is always prepared. That leads to keeping a handgun between her bed and boxspring, or leaving her clothes on, or, by her bedside. Even awake, she's always standing in a way that could be described as ready, almost a battle like stance. A figurative way to put it would be that she's like a cat that sleeps with one eye open. Helga's always been that way, and the betrayal at the Atlantean volcano only solidified that habit. Helga isn't likely to be caught off guard.
Unlike Rourke, Helga has a very strict 'thinking-before-acting' train of thought. While he's very hands on and violent, Helga watches from afar, ever observant, ever planning. The only time she breaks this practice is when she's leading the remainder of the crew into the escape vehicles (She's very to the point, but not panicked), and when she swings back up to strike Rourke after her initial fall from the zeppelin/air balloon (something she didn't see coming, she was blinded by her shock and anger).
When idle or bored, Helga keeps her hands busy, whether that's with her gloves, with her gestures, or with whatever she has on hand. She's easily annoyed or bored by what she thinks she already knows or doesn't need, as demonstrated on the bridge during Milo's speech/slideshow. She had a waning belief of the supernatural until the crystal chamber, a scene that solidified it. That belief has helped her contribute to the fight against the Mist.
Greatest Fear: Helga's greatest fear has always and will forever be failure. Failure to protect her team, failure to complete the mission, failure to serve her commanding officer, even failure to find or secure the item or goal she initially set for herself or for her team. Failure, in her case, is never ever an option.
Helga Sinclair 4/??
What are you plans with this character?: Helga is a leader when there is no other, and she's damned good at it. She takes and gives orders well, and wants to establish an organized effort against the Mist.
How has the Black Mist affected your character’s memory, if at all?: It has not.
Are there any noteworthy events that happened to your character in the previous game?: Helga's been the rescuer in two Black Mist kidnappings, one for Lyle Rourke and one for Astrid Hofferson. She remembers the both of them well. She was also a chief contributer in the Berk Expedition, to see what became of the swallowed community. She was injured extensively in the operation, irritating her previous injuries sustained from the Atlantis Expedition. Later on, she was the chaperone of most of the dances/get togethers. She had a close relationship with Astrid Hofferson before and after her Black Mist rescue, as well as Milo Thatch, Captain Elizabeth Swann and Captain Amelia Smollet.
Helga Sinclair 5/5
Third person writing sample:
The morning started like every other morning. A little more quiet, though. With a little less life glowing through her window. The sunrise was nonexistant among the lingering darkness. However, this wouldn't stop her. She all but rolled out of bed and her feet met the floor with the balls of her feet, running her fingers through her hair. Moments later, the shower knobs turned, and the hot water washed whatever groggy feelings she had down the drain. Out of the shower, she pulled on her usual breeches, and tanktop. The chilly feeling under her skin asked her to put on her turtleneck, but she knew that it wouldn't stop the cold feeling. Fiddling round in the vanity, she pulled out a worn brush and pulled it through her freshly washed hair. As she finished brushing, she peered behind the curtain with a single finger.
The Black Mist had receded the past few days, however, the darkness still lingered about. That doomed feeling still thickly coated the air. She waited. Oh, how she waited, and oh how she hated waiting. She waited for a call, for an announcement, or a knock on her door. She waited to hear about who was taken this time, who she had to go after now. The Winchester laid behind her door, loaded and appropriately cleaned, waiting along with her. She closed the curtains to her window.
Summertime for the Academy was meant to be...well, students enjoying themselves away from their studies. Not hiding away in their dormitories. Not cowering away from the sun that was obscured by the clouds of black. Checking her calender mounted on her wall with a black marker, she marked out yet another day, cooped up in this room. A look over to the wall and she sees her previous plastering of postcards and newspaper clippings, her only glnce to the outside besides her window. In a bit of a fit, she peels the collage off the side of the wall. The lieutenant wasn't about to let herself get sentimental. This was a prolonged time of crisis. She had to keep focused. She pulls open her dresser drawers, putting the folded up pasted together papers and photos into the drawer, and pulls the six shot on top of it to hide it's focus.
Maybe the comms were working. She opens the adjacent drawer to flick hers on. The small device lit up with life, and she scrolled up and down the contacts list.
First person writing sample:
[ In all her attempts to seem the least paranoid as possible, the Lieutenant appears on the comm with a stern look on her face. In her lap, a notepad and pad sit off screen. ]
Eighth day in, and the comms are back up. If you could check in with me or another staff member as soon as possible, we'll get a headcount, and see if anyone's missing. We want to be ready this time.
I hope you all are still in your respective dorms. Especially those of you on my floor.
[ That's not a tone to trifle with. ]
Have a good afternoon.
PENDING
The tenses switch around five different times in your third person sample. If you could please fix that, we'll be happy to re-evaluate your application!
Thank you!
