Posting Format Guide
♠ Posting Format Guide
For the Main comm,waltdisneyacademy
Subject bar: Here's where you keep numerical track of your posts, what kind of post it is, and whom it’s open to.
These posts can be Video, Private Video, Accidental Video, Audio, Private Audio, Accidental Audio, Action, and occasionally, Text (private and accidental options applying, of course). Or if you’re creative, any combination of them.
Video: The communicators capture both image and sound; very much like calling over Skype and video chatting.
Audio: Voice only, much like a mass telephone call.
Action: No communicators at all; a description of your character(s) doing something.
Text: We don’t really endorse this option outside of Drunk Text Memes, but past players have been able to make it work in small, controlled amounts (and usually in conjunction with another option). It works sort of like an email. Please, just use tact with this option; nobody wants to see chat-speak riddled all over your post.
Accidental option: If there’s one thing about the communicators, it’s that they’re difficult to use. They have a bad habit of turning on at inopportune times, especially if they’re accidentally bumped or fall from their resting place; they are also inconvenient for novices, especially when the public and private setting tab is near impossible to find.
Private option: This means the communication feed is only being sent out to a small number of people, not to everyone’s communicators. This option does not apply to Action posts.
Examples:
05, Video, OTA (Open To All)
15, Private Video fornot_a_telescreen / Action, OTA
Entry Text:
The format for the actual post in this comm is first-person, with formatted brackets for all thoughts, feelings, and action.
Example:
< small>[Oh, look, a steamboat! And... who is that whistling while navigating it? Why, none other than Mickey Mouse, of course! He‘ll gladly wave to those reading this guide.]</ small> Howdy, folks! Gee, isn’t this guide swell? I hope it’s helpin’ you chug along! Ha ha!
For the log comm,waltdisneyacademy_log
Subject bar: A very very brief summary of what the log will entail, and/or if it is closed to anyone.
Examples:
It’s somebody’s birthday!
Dinner Date
Coming clean; Closed to Roxas
Entry text: In the log comm, we ask you provide a few key pieces of information and a cut.
Who: The characters involved
Where: where is this log taking place? A dorm room? The forest? Traverse Town?
When: At what point in time does this log take place? Before/after a certain event? An actual date or holiday?
What: What is this log about? Is it a rescue? Is it a first date? Is it a heart to heart between friends or lovers? Etc.
Warnings: Just so we avoid people reading anything that triggers them. So, angst, death, violence, trauma, mentioning of heavy material, gore, epicness of epic proportions, dragons, derping, overbearing fluff that will cause people to die of cute. Have fun with the warnings, but make sure to get the important ones in there too! And if the log gets darker than you intended and turns in a way nobody expected, make sure to update the warnings accordingly.
Please insert a cut after that information.
From here, the writing is 3rd person, prose-style. NO BRACKETS. Logs are perfect for more intense, emotional, and/or descriptive writing, as well as tl;dr-ing!
Example:
Did you see that pass by? Was it... yes, it was! A steamboat! And... who was that whistling while navigating it? Why, none other than Mickey Mouse, of course! He gleefully waved to those reading the guide.
"Howdy, folks! Gee, isn’t this guide swell? I hope it’s helpin’ you chug along! Ha ha!" he quipped, a wide smile on his face.
