The Black Mist
| ♠ Black Mist What is known so far. Information updated as news becomes available. ♠ Information ♠ BLACK MIST ♠ Academy Procedure: Buddy system and curfew go into effect immediately; lock all doors and windows, do not go outside. Stay together at all costs. Info: Black, fog-like mist that originally resided at the End of the World. All who approach it by air or sea typically end up missing. The Black Mist can settle over other parts of the world, as specific as a single neighborhood and as massive as multiple kingdoms. Thousands upon thousands around the globe have been reported missing or assumed dead because of this phenomena. In rare occasions, entire sections of neighborhoods or city blocks have disappeared. In the recorded cases where those kidnapped have returned from the Mist, the victims had no serious physical damage, but personalities, emotions, memories and other similar aspects had been severely affected and or changed entirely. Thus far, by whatever mysterious coincidence, the only people who have been kidnapped and returned have been either students or staff at the Academy. In January 2011, the Mist had mysteriously disappeared from the world, only to suddenly reappear and cover the entire globe a week later. This has been referred to as the "Mist Explosion," and it has only happened once. A few weeks after the Explosion, the Mist returned to the parts of the world it was previously covering before the event. Despite previous notions that the Black Mist evolved in an organic manner, the recorded expansions and subsequent retreats demonstrate the Mist's ability to move and direct itself in a much more irregular pattern. Organic growth cannot account for the Mist's sudden convergences and disappearances over the Academy and other parts of the globe. ♠ STRANGELINGS ♠ Academy Procedure: Avoid at all costs. Do not approach under any circumstances. If one cannot retreat indoors, keep the farthest distance possible. Avoid open fields where visuals can be made. Do not speak names aloud and do not touch. If names are divulged or if the Strangelings instinctively know a person's name, he/she is recommended to vacate the area affected by the Mist immediately, regardless of their perceived safety if indoors. Touching a Strangeling is dangerous, and may result in being transported into an illusion and/or kidnapping. Info:Dangerous beings that appear as formless, colorless blurs. They only appear when the Black Mist is nearby. Origin unknown. They can, but very rarely do, cause physical damage, which can be anywhere from long-lasting ghostly hand marks and imprints where a person was touched, to severe physical damage. Mental trauma ranges from harmless to reliving/losing memories, experiencing severe terror, or temporarily losing sanity. Certain people whose names have been divulged are followed very frequently by Strangelings when the Black Mist appears. However, Strangelings' behavior is unpredictable. Strangelings appear to be able to perceive the memories of their victims/targets. Victims/Targets of Strangelings often experience chills prior to an encounter, and headaches following close contact. Strangelings are able to imitate the voices and, to a very slight degree, appearances of those presently or previously important to their victims/targets. In several accounts, a Strangeling has expressed a strong desire, whether genuine or false, to become close to its victim/target. Victims/targets who willingly “feed” the Strangelings negativity and wholeheartedly hand themselves over are not forgotten by them; Strangelings do not forget their allies, and will use them to their advantage in the future. Connections with others seem to be effective in repelling Strangelings. While it appears to do them no real harm and does not deter them from pursuing other targets, it does dissuade them from further attacks on the persons involved; in other words, the buddy-system works. ♠ Jack Rippers ♠ Academy Procedure: Use the buddy system at all times. Never engage a Jack Ripper. If you see one, seek shelter behind locked doors. Do not, under any circumstances, allow one to touch you. Info: New beings that have begun to show up in Mist-affected areas. Very little was known about them; those who had encountered them had not been heard from since. Eyewitness accounts were compromised due to the Black Mist’s effects; each of the handful of accounts differed because of this. The only thing the accounts had in common is that these beings have a solid form. If allowed to come into contact with a person, they can impersonate someone from that person's memory: abilities, weapons, voice, looks, and all. They take on the same skills and seemingly the same knowledge that the originals have. However, they have been shown to use mental weapons too, such as spoken word. They do not hesitate to fight or inflict harm. Because of this, these creatures are highly dangerous, if not most likely deadly. |
