Jack Ripper Confrontations
♠ Jack Ripper Confrontations! Want your character to come face to face with a Jack Ripper? Fill out a form here and we'll inform you if your request was approved or not! Jack Rippers can take the form of anybody from your character's memory, within reason. This can even include your character himself or herself. Please specify who you would like the Jack Ripper to turn into. This is supposed to provide a physically (and sometimes even mentally) challenging situation from which your character needs to escape. Often times, a confrontation can be used as a means for your character to face his or her inner demons... for better or for worse. Unlike kidnappings, Jack Rippers will typically go after your character if and only if he or she is alone; however, under special mod-approved circumstances, multiple party confrontations can happen. In addition, while kidnappings leave mostly emotional scars, Jack Ripper confrontations will most likely leave physical ones. As such, please take into consideration the bodily harm your character will most likely receive and be prepared to play out recuperation afterwards. You may sign up at any time to be put into the draw for a confrontation, even if there are no dates scheduled yet. If you also signed up any of your characters for kidnappings, you will only be able to play out one of the two in a single BME. Your name will remain in the draw for whichever one you were not picked from. The next day for Jack Ripper confrontations will occur on: TBA And will last until: TBA Rules: 01. You will be warned a week in advance if your character is chosen; use this time to figure out what you want to happen. 02. Be prepared with examples (video clips, wiki pages, essays, etc.) for the mods so we can play out the Jack Ripper impersonations as accurately as possible. 03. Confrontations with Jack Rippers are not meant to be easy tasks; they will push your character to his or her limit, inflict damage, sometimes both physically and mentally, depending on who you choose for them to impersonate. While thread length will vary depending on the person and the impersonation, do be prepared to play it out fully. 04. Confrontations are played out in the Log comm; please follow the posting format, as well as tag the entry with the !confrontation tag. 05. If at any time you feel too uncomfortable to continue, let us mods know. However, the confrontation will have the same consequence of a Major Failed Confrontation. Key Points 01. Communication is key; please keep in contact with the mods. Feel free to throw your ideas at us, especially if you want something specific to happen. We will help find a way to arrive at that point. 02. Please specify from the get-go how much physical damage you're willing for your characters to receive (small minor nicks, broken bones, bruises, etc.). If you do not want your character harmed at all, please abstain from signing up. 03. Jack Rippers will not cause your character permanent damage (such as paralysis from a broken spine, lost limbs, dying etc.). However, they will get as close as possible if allowed. 04. Each confrontation will be unique to the person whom the Jack Rippers choose as a victim. Consequences Success While Jack Rippers are extremely difficult to defeat, it is not impossible to do so. However, taking one out while it's impersonating would be the equivalent of killing whoever it's pretending to be. For many characters, this option will prove far more difficult than merely surviving. Truly, destroying a Jack Ripper and being victorious will prove to be just as much of a consequence as failing is. Failing There are two categories of failing in a confrontation, a minor fail and a Major fail. A minor fail indicates that your character has safely escaped the grasp of the Jack Ripper, but has not destroyed it. That particular Jack Ripper will retain everything it got the chance to learn from the memories of the victim, and will return at a future date for your character; however, in that time apart, the Ripper will become more adept and skilled with whatever they obtained from those memories. In this case, your character's name will be kept in the draw, but with a note that it's a returning Jack Ripper. For now, you may repeat these confrontations a total of two times before the Mist keeps that particular Jack Ripper to itself. A Major fail indicates that your character has been rendered unconscious or unable to fight due to the Jack Ripper's obtained abilities. In this case, the confrontation is completely over. Your character will have to deal with the injuries inflicted, the mental aspect of failing miserably, as well as the loss of whatever memory the Jack Ripper used as fodder for its impersonation. However, unlike a minor fail, the Jack Ripper will not return for your character. Instead, it will go after whomever your character is closest to in attendance at the Academy... with all the powers/skills/fighting styles/weapons they acquired from its confrontation with your character. You must have someone willing to apply for a confrontation for the next or subsequent BME if you wish for a Major fail. Premature unconsciousness Let's face it, not all characters are cut out for battle. If your character faints or manages to accidentally knock themselves out before escaping or reaching a Major fail, it will have the same consequence of a minor fail. Injuries These can range to minor to major, and in some rare cases, to the brink of death. However, the Jack Rippers will not inflict enough harm to kill your character. Examples of injuries that a characters can sustain are cuts, scrapes, bruises, gashes, broken bones, concussions, sprained limbs, etc. |
